Tel Domain Names - Success Story or Total Failure?
I’ve been closely monitoring the various release stages of tel domain names. I’ve been looking to see if there is a building buzz or excitement, or is it a flat line. To this point, I would suggest it’s more failure than success. I realize the stages of release for tel domain names comes at a very steep price tag. This would eliminate a large majority of potential tel domain name users. In fact, I think the price point for tel domains is the main issue. Yes this will drop in the final stage of the release. Therefore the public interest should be a massive spike. Tel domains are counting on a widespread user base. Without mass usage their hopes of becoming the first ever online global directory is simply fantasy. My conclusion is, once the price drops, the tel domain names will take off!
Business uses for tel domain names is very underrated in my opinion. Sure it’s expensive, but once tel domains start popping up on business cards, on websites, on brochures etc, the general public will be quite astonished. The businesses that missed the boat will certainly start to scramble. Business will also play a vital role in the future success or failure of tel domain names. They market and they have power to influence. People see .tel domains in the media, they will take note and learn.
My last point is, people’s education of tel domain names will play a large role in the success or failure. If nobody can grasp the simplicity of owning a tel domain name or the true power of tel domains, then the market will not take to them. I would suggest the world is getting more connected and with more mobile devices. This would suggest a huge value to most people for owning tel domain names.
Those are my thoughts, what are yours?
